Year 3

In year 3 we are committed to easing the transition from infant school to junior school, ensuring all children are excited about their future learning and onward journey in education.

Throughout the year, English lessons will incorporate creative writing, spelling, grammar, reading comprehension, speaking and listening skills, drama, handwriting and non-fiction work and research skills.

To help with their work we ask that all children read every night for a minimum of 15 minutes.

Maths lessons will include mental arithmetic, using and applying maths skills, number facts, calculations, understanding number, shape, measures and data handling. We expect children to learn times tables with an initial focus on 2,4,5,6 and 10, and ask that you work with your child to learn these vital number facts.
